On a slow news day, the Huffington Post runs with a short piece under “Politics”, telling us that the late Senator Ted Kennedy’s dog has died.
What I found astonishing about this was that Kennedy had the effrontery, the gall, the arrogance, the sheer political blindness, to call the mutt “Splash”.
Yup, Splash.
Splash – as in splash-in-goes-the-car-off-the-bridge-and-into-the-river splash. Splash as in Chappaquiddick. Splash as in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.
Vile, tacky and tasteless.
But very Kennedy.

I may be at risk of letting the truth get in the way of a good rant but it was a water dog, possibly Portugese, like Obama’s kids’ pooch and it’ll be Splash! Like the sound of a water dog galumphing after lame ducks.
