The United States has long been seen as the home of democracy where anyone no matter from what background can, by dint of hard work and intelligence, rise to the highest office of the land.
Unfortunately this is a myth and the people who are president are too often related to each other far more closely than they let on. America is often even now ruled by loose groups of political families generation after generation.
America is therefore less of a democracy and rather more of an Oligarchy. This blog explores who these people and families are and how they achieved and maintain their positions.
