It seems it must be “that time of the year”  for after the sprogs of Kennedy and Carter, up pops another chip off an older block to sniff the wind and test the water.

Joseph Robinette (always known as “Beau” ) Biden III, is a handsome 41 year old sucessful Attorney General of Delaware, who is also a  Captain in his local National Guard.  He has served in Iraq and is a war veteran.  How often, since, Washington has America liked to see its leaders in a uniform?

Beau is though the eldest son of the former United States Senator, and  present Vice President, Joe Biden.

Here is another possible candidate who has wavered publically in a will-he-won’t-he sort of way looking to see how the press would run with it.  His father even trying to push matters along by saying ” Its no secret that I believe my son Attorney General Beau Biden would make a great United States Senator just as I believe he has been a great Atorney General.  But Beau has made it clear from the moment he entered public life that any office he sought he would earn on his own.  If he choses to run for Senate in the future, he will have to run or win on his own.  He wouldnt have it any other way”.  So then, daddy, why come out with the big shove ?

Well, in the end he chose not to go this time.  Public service is being cited as getting in the way of personal advancement.  Beau has the opportunity to make humungous public capital as the very public prosecutor of a notorious paedophile.  Miles of free advertising here.

And in so doing he will avoid what is clearly being considered a tough battle and a likely Democratic car crash in November, to emerge untainted by bad publicity and set fair  for 2012.

Biding his time indeed.
