Knowing my love of daft maps which show the world in fresh and different lights, one of the subscribers to this blog took the trouble to draw my attention to the delights of London – mapped as by its surnames.

It’s rather good too. It shows the most popular surnames in each part of London, and it shows them on different pages from the most popular, down through the numbers, the illustration is I think the eleventh most popular names, in the areas to fifteenth.  All are colour coordinated too as either Asian, Scots, French etc.

The snaking grey line across the middle of the picture is the River Thames.  North is to the top.

A real education! Wonder if we could get the guys and gals to do the same for New York?
