It is revealed this morning that former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is in hospital.
And so a scene swims before us as from a Dan Brown novel: the sainted Margaret bolstered upon a sea of pillows in a darkened room, breathing shallowly, slipping quietly away when behold news come hot afoot from her acolytes Cameron and Osborne of their rolling back government. Rallying at the last, hopeful of seeing her life’s work fulfilled she hears news from the colonies of the Democrat’s successes in the elections which fills her with crushing despair.
