President Clinton is due to give a key-note speech in Edinburgh in what is sure to be the big ticket event of the summer season.
Ol’ Bubba is certain to wow his many fans in Scotland at the Scottish Business Awards ceremony where he will deliver a speech entitled “Embracing our common humanity”. Well he certainly knows about the embracing bit. The organisers are at pains to point out his Edinburgh credentials, reminding us, in case we did not already know that he proposed to Hills here way back.
It’s quite a coup for the organiser Josh Littlejohn (26) who owns a socially conscious sandwich shop in Rose Street, and certainly gives the event an enormous fillip. The Scottish Business Awards ceremony usually has the all fervour and red carpet appeal of a Rotarian Dinner or the annual Masonic AGM. It’s not exactly the most news worthy event in the social calendar, but now the event on Friday 21st June at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is certain to be a sell-out.
Some 1400 of Scotland’s unco guid are firmly expected to attend, with “VIP” tables where guests are guaranteed a photo and a cuddle with the great man going for £3,000.
Don’t expect a State Tour, or a chance to catch him elsewhere in Edinburgh that weekend; Bill’s people have said he will only be here for a quickie.
