The Internet, and Politico’s round the world today exploded with delight (even I received calls while driving) that Jeb has actually, finally, decided to do what The Oligarch Kings has predicted he would do for years – namely he’s going to run.

And, for old Oligarch watchers like me it promises the wonderful possibility of the best All-Oligarch fight since Bush v Kerry back in 2004. We could finally get the rumble in the jungle with Hillary Clinton wife of one president, and Jeb, son of brother of and through his mother descendent of other Presidents.

He announced it all, as one does nowadays, to his legions of social media fans on his Facebook site thus:-

We also talked about the future of our nation. As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States.
In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation. The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.

In the coming months, I hope to visit with many of you and have a conversation about restoring the promise of America.

Best wishes to you and your families for a happy holiday season. I’ll be in touch soon.

The comments section was, shall we say, “mixed”.

That said he may be what the troubled Republicans need. He is no tax busting Tea Party wallah and he isn’t viscerally anti-immigrant. His marriage to a Hispanic appeals to a huge demographic and finally (thank God) he is not some rabid right-wing born again Christian.

Papa Bush, Baby Bush, Jeb BushThe three stooges?  Or is the public that are the stooges here?

The question which we should be asking is – why in a modern educated politically conscious country should the competition for the highest office of state be reduced to a fight between two members of families that have previously held the office over the last thirty years?

Why is there never anyone else? Readers already know why!
